The
SMAE Institute Facilities
The surgery facility has a dedicated
biomechanics area where students will learn to use a variety of
equipment. Among this will be the Podiatech orthotic manufacturing
system (kindly donated by Sidas UK), and the Tech Scan System. The
Podiatech system allows the practitioner to manufacture prescribed
orthotics within the hour, whereas the Tech Scan system uses its
computerised pressure plate for stance and gait analysis.

The main surgery area takes into account
patient privacy with individual cubicles. A separate sterilisation
room off the main surgery houses a state of the art autoclave ultrasonic
cleaner combination unit.
The reception waiting room is much
larger than the previous location and has better access for disabled
and less mobile patients.
The surgeries, reception and student common rooms
are fully air-conditioned. The lecture rooms too are air condition
and the new large lecture theatre is not only air-conditioned but
incorporates an air exchange system.

The first floor consists of a fully
equipped lecture theatre seating 100. With a raised stage, 2.4 square
metres screen, PC with Internet access and full PA system.
